Description and Reviews
Key Take-Aways:
The Sirui Venus 135mm T2.9 Anamorphic is a manual-focus full-frame anamorphic cine telephoto prime. Sirui’s spec table gives one set of figures for all mounts (RF, L, E and Z): 1,294 g to 1,311 g, 173 mm to 177 mm long, 88 mm across the focus ring, with an 82 mm filter thread, a 0.9 m minimum focus distance, 12 aperture blades and a T2.9 to T16 aperture range; the lower end of each range is entered, and Sirui makes no weather sealing claim. Sirui’s US store lists the single lens in L-Mount at a regular, crossed-out price of $1,499, with a sale price of $499 beside it. As of Oct 2026, few reviews have been written and three videos are linked. Victor Laforteza calls the image quality amazing, the lens sharp enough without being too mushy and its barrel distortion subtle, but finds the blue flares too strong around bright light sources; he calls it a specialty lens and suggests the 35mm or 50mm first, with the 135mm a good addition for a missing long lens. Richard Wong, who tested the L-Mount lens on a Lumix S5IIx with a sample sent by Sirui, says it is easily one of the sharpest anamorphic lenses he has tried, wishes the bokeh were more oval, and finds its size and weight not bad for a 1.8x full-frame T2.9 anamorphic. The DP Journey calls it the most compact, high value for money 135mm anamorphic, with great build quality but no weather sealing, a short focus throw, a warm tint and a skew distortion that can be corrected in post, and concludes there were no significant quality compromises.
From Sirui:
The 135mm has a shallower depth of field, smoother blurred backgrounds, and more excellent foreground separation than the other focal lengths in the lineup.
This lens performs well optically with high sharpness and low distortion. Equivalent to a 75mm horizontally, it is considered a great choice for portraits, landscapes, products, etc.
The extra reach allows you to frame the subject properly without having to stand very close to it.
The subject and the background appear to be compressed together onto the same plane.
The 135mm features a 1.8x squeeze design for a more pronounced anamorphic look, such as the smoothly blurred backgrounds with more elongated oval bokeh.
Specifications are from the image spec table on Sirui’s page for the Venus lenses, which gives one set of figures for all mounts; weight (1,294 g to 1,311 g) and length (173 mm to 177 mm) are ranges with no mount named, so the lower end is used, and diameter is the 88 mm focus ring. The 0.19 maximum magnification is the vertical 1:5.26 figure (the table also gives 1:9.11 horizontal). Sirui’s page gives no diagonal angle of view, so the field is left out. The price is the regular, crossed-out price of the L-Mount selection; Sirui’s own comparison table on the page also shows $1,499. The product image is Sirui’s picture of the 135mm lens, with the mount not specified.
