Description and Reviews
Key Take-Aways:
The Sirui Venus 100mm T2.9 Anamorphic is a manual-focus full-frame anamorphic cine telephoto prime. Sirui’s set page publishes one set of figures for all mounts (RF, L, E and Z), listing it at 1,477 g to 1,499 g, 164 mm to 168 mm long, 88 mm across the focus ring, with an 82 mm filter thread, a 0.93 m minimum focus distance, a maximum magnification of 1:8.50 in the vertical direction, 13 aperture blades and a T2.9 to T16 aperture range; the lower end of each range is entered, and Sirui makes no weather sealing claim. Sirui’s US store lists the single-lens L-Mount selection at a regular, crossed-out price of $1,499, with a sale price of $499 beside it. As of Oct 2026, few reviews have been written and three videos are linked. In his video description NO limits ON says it is big and heavy but gives the anamorphic look with nice flares and oval bokeh, and calls its 93 cm minimum focus distance great. Tommy Callaway says in his video description that Sirui sent him the lens and that he made a short film with just that lens. Matt Spade’s video description puts it side by side with the 150mm and calls both lenses amazing.
From SIRUI:
The 100mm focal length has the ability to produce strong background compression as well as beautiful oval bokeh with distinct focus fall-off, perfect for shooting portraits, sports, weddings, and wildlife.
Designed for professional anamorphic use, this series gives you 1.6x more on the horizontal as well as more prominent anamorphic characteristics.
The 1.6x squeeze gives a little more stretch to the background and therefore, the bokeh gets taller and skinnier. At 100mm T2.9, the shallow depth of field further separates the subject, adding an artistic aesthetic feeling to the footage.
When shooting 3:2, the lens offers a 2.4:1 aspect ratio.
When using the lens on a 16:9 sensor, you end up with a much wider 2.8:1 aspect ratio, which gives you a lot of flexibility in post if you want to crop the footage to a 2.4:1.
This lineup comes in RF, L, E, and Z-Mount, working perfectly on professional cinema cameras and popular FF mirrorless cameras.
Specifications are from the image spec table on Sirui’s set page for the Venus 35mm and 100mm, which gives one set of figures for all mounts; weight (1,477 g to 1,499 g) and length (164 mm to 168 mm) are ranges with no mount named, so the lower end is used, diameter is the 88 mm focus ring, and the 0.12 maximum magnification is the vertical 1:8.50 figure (the table also gives 1:13.64 horizontal). Sirui’s page gives no diagonal angle of view, so the field is left out. The price is the regular, crossed-out price of the 100mm / L variant; the set page also sells the 35mm. Matt Spade’s video covers the 100mm and the 150mm; only the 100mm is credited here.
