Professional reviews report superb sharpness across the range and strong value versus 600mm f/4 primes, with trade-offs including very heavy weight, non-parfocal zooming, a modest quality dip wide-open at f/4, and susceptibility to flare/ghosting if the hood isn’t used. As of Sep 14 2025, user discussions are broadly positive about image quality, stabilization and versatility, while recurrent concerns center on weight/handholding and practical handling; L-Mount users also highlight teleconverter compatibility as a plus.
