Key Take-Aways:

The Sigma 24-70mm f/2.8 DG DN Art is the discontinued first version of Sigma's mirrorless standard zoom for L-Mount and Sony E. Sigma's page lists the L-Mount version at 835 g and 87.8 mm across, with a length of 123 mm (Sigma gives 122.9), an 82 mm filter thread, an 84 to 34 degree angle of view (Sigma gives 84.1 to 34.3), a 0.18 m minimum focus distance at the wide end and 19 elements in 15 groups. Sigma's archived page says the lens has a dust and splash resistant structure and a water- and oil-repellent coating, adding that it can be used in light rain but is not waterproof, and Sigma's US store prices the L-Mount selection at $1,099. As of Oct 2026, five written reviews and nineteen videos are linked. Cameralabs' Thomas found it sharp within the APS-C image circle with no longitudinal colour aberration, little veiling glare and reliable autofocus, but gradually softer at closer focusing distances down to mushy results at minimum focus distance, and still recommended it. Digital Camera World's Matthew Richards praised the superb build quality and super-fast, silent autofocus, and criticised the typically big and heavy body and noticeable distortion and vignetting when uncorrected. Photography Blog's Mark Goldstein measured autofocus at about 0.10 seconds on a Sony Alpha A7 III. ShotKit's Athol Hill listed price, image quality and weight for a Sigma Art lens as pros, and the zoom ring turning the wrong way, the lens caps and still being heavy as cons. In its video description DPReview TV says the lens lives up to Sigma's Art standard and impressed in testing, and Chris Brockhurst's description calls it the closest he has come to one lens for shooting a variety of subjects.

From Sigma:

> The F2.8 Art zoom flagship zoom lens series is developed primarily to achieve superior optical performance. As extra-low dispersion glass materials, six sheets of “F” low dispersion (FLD) glass and two sheets of special low dispersion (SLD) glass are lavishly employed while taking advantage of an optical design dedicated for mirrorless lenses. By employing three aspheric lenses, this zoom lens thoroughly subdues aberrations such as axial chromatic aberration or sagittal coma aberration, which are difficult to correct in post-processing, tailors the resolution and achieves uniformity and superior optical performance from the center to the periphery throughout the zoom range.
>
> The mirrorless camera-dedicated design successfully contributes to reduction in the lens size and weight.
>
> In consideration of shooting under challenging shooting conditions, the dust and splash resistant structure* and water- and oil-repellent coating are adopted. In addition, a variety of functions, such as an AFL button that can assign various functions to the lens barrel, a zoom lock switch that is unlocked by zoom operation, a nice touch AF / MF switch, are provided.
>
> \* Although this construction allows the lens to be used in light rain, it is not the same as being waterproof.

Sigma has discontinued this lens. It is the Mark I of sigma-24-70mm-f2-8-ii (the Sigma 24-70mm f/2.8 DG DN II Art), not the DSLR 24-70mm f/2.8 DG OS HSM Art. Specifications are the L-Mount figures from Sigma's page; the length is the English page's 122.9 mm, entered as 123, the angle of view is 84.1 to 34.3 degrees, entered as 84-34, and the 0.34 magnification is the 1:2.9 wide-end maximum. Sigma's current page keeps only the specification table, so the quoted text comes from an archived copy of the same page (web.archive.org, 2023). The price is the L-Mount selection on Sigma's US store (Sigma America).
