Key Take-Aways:

The Mitakon Speedmaster 50mm f/0.95 III is a manual-focus full-frame normal prime with a record f/0.95 aperture, 10 elements in 7 groups, a metal barrel, a 67 mm filter thread, a 0.5 m minimum focus distance and a weight of 720 g, available for L-mount among other mounts, and Mitakon lists it at $799. As of Oct 2026, two written reviews and four videos are linked. Cameralabs (Thomas, tested on a Nikon Z7) finds the bokeh wide open second only to the Nikon Z 58mm f/0.95 S Noct and the corner light fall-off astonishingly low, but lists coma, astigmatism, spherical aberration, haloing, low flare resistance, strong focus breathing and no electronic contacts, so focusing wide open is harder than with sharper lenses; it still recommends it as by far the cheapest f/0.95 option for full frame. Alpha Shooters (Bernard Déry, on Sony E-mount) praises the stellar metal build, the long focus throw, the clickless aperture ring and the beautiful bokeh from 11 blades, finds centre sharpness excellent from f/2.8, and finds sharpness, contrast and chromatic aberration unimpressive at f/2.8 and wider, with distortion of about 1%. Of the videos, Richard Wong titles his "World's First Review" and tested it on a Nikon Z6; Christopher Frost's description of the Mark III update says the optics are essentially the same as the Mark II, with the same question marks over image quality but striking f/0.95 images; Manny Ortiz describes his video as putting the lens through its paces in the real world for portraits with high speed sync outdoors; and Frost's later video checks the Nikon Z version.

From Mitakon:

> Zhongyi Optics (ZY Optics) have released the new Mitakon Speedmaster 50mm f/0.95 version III for full frame L mount (Sigma FP, Panasonic S1 and S1H, Leica SL, SL2), Sony E, Nikon Z and Canon RF cameras.

> Offering a natural 50mm perspective along with an ultra-fast f/0.95 maximum aperture, the Mitakon 50mm f/0.95 is a compact prime characterized by its bright f/0.95 aperture to suit working in low-light conditions. It also affords a great degree of control over depth-of-field for isolating subjects from the background and producing selective focus effects.

> The new version III features a new optics design which offers a slightly more compact size and a better flare resistance. A carefully-designed 10 elements in 7 groups optics system with 1pc of HRI (High Refractive Index) & 5pcs of UD (Ultra-low dispersion) elements successfully minimizes the chromatic aberrations and delivers exceptional image quality.

> An eleven-blade diaphragm helps to produce a softly diffused out-of-focus rendering (bokeh). The enclosure of the lens is made of metal to strengthen its durability.

Mitakon publishes one set of figures for all mounts (Sony FE, Canon RF, Nikon Z and L Mount), so the weight of 720 g and the size of 73.3 mm by 83.5 mm (rounded to 84 mm) are not tied to L-mount; only the aperture blades differ, 11 blades and 9 for L-mount. The price is the regular $799 in Mitakon's store, which currently shows $499 as a sale price.
