Description and Reviews
Key Take-Aways:
The Lensbaby Sweet 22 is a manual-focus 22mm f/3.5 pancake lens for mirrorless cameras that gives a small central sweet spot with heavy blur around it. Lensbaby says it has the smallest sweet spot and the most blur outside it of any of its lenses; it focuses down to 12.7 cm and costs $180. As of Oct 2026, two written reviews and no videos are linked. Amateur Photographer’s Angela Nicholson praises its ease of use, its compact weight and its dramatic effect, and criticises the missing lens-to-camera communication, the manual-only focus and the sweet spot that stays fixed in the centre of the frame; she calls it a great introduction to Lensbaby lenses. Ray Duffill of Hedon Viewfinders calls it a fun lens that spurs creativity, praises the creamy blur and close focus, and says the low price is what made him buy it.
From Lensbaby:
The Sweet 22 pancake lens from Lensbaby features the smallest sweet spot with the most blur outside the sweet spot of any Lensbaby lens. With a compact, robust metal body and built-in focus down to 5 inches from the front element, this new mirrorless-only creative effects lens brings dramatic optical effects to stills and video imagery that have never before been possible.
The tiny, tack-sharp, centered sweet spot created by the Sweet 22 gives a sense of motion to still images while creating dramatic focus transitions of moving subject matter coming into or out of the Sweet 22’s sweet spot when shooting video. A sea of impressionistic blur gradually transitioning to a precise, tack sharp sweet spot gives photographers the chance to create imagery more dramatic than previous selective focus lenses.
Lensbaby publishes one set of figures for all mounts. The L Mount selection is $179.95; Lensbaby publishes no weight, length or diameter for this lens; the figures (140 g, 73 mm diameter, 38.5 mm length rounded to 39 mm) come from Amateur Photographer and the CRK Photo Imaging spec listing, which agree.
