Key Take-Aways:

The Laowa LF Nanomorph 85mm T2.9 1.5X is a telephoto prime in Laowa's large-format 1.5x anamorphic cine set, a manual-focus T2.9 lens covering full-frame sensors. It focuses down to 1 m, weighs 922 g, has a 77 mm filter thread and costs $1,499, and Laowa publishes its angle of view as 35.9 x 17.1 degrees horizontal by vertical. As of Oct 2026, five YouTube videos are linked and no written review, and all five cover the Nanomorph LF set rather than this lens alone. The Film Guy compares the Laowa set with Blazar and Atlas 1.5x anamorphics, with chapters on sharpness, close focus, flares, distortion and squeeze, and focus breathing. Anamorphic Cookbook calls the set a clean, beautiful anamorphic look that stays small and light while meeting cinema standards. Kyle Meshna tests the lenses as an anamorphic look that does not give up the traits of a modern lens, and calls them surprising. James Matthews tests them on a Sony FX3 and calls them brilliant budget full-frame anamorphics, and Victor Laforteza covers image quality, flares, colour consistency, distortion and focus breathing on a Blackmagic Pyxis 6K and discusses which focal lengths he would buy.

Laowa publishes one set of figures for all mounts and does not list L-mount-specific ones, so the weight and dimensions are as published for the whole Nanomorph LF set; the lens ships in PL mount by default with a Canon EF bayonet included, and an L-mount bayonet is available separately. The price is the same for all three flare colours (Amber, Blue, Silver). Laowa also sells the four-lens set (32mm, 42mm, 55mm, 85mm) at $5,399 and two two-lens sets (32mm + 55mm and 42mm + 85mm) at $2,849 each.
