Key Take-Aways:

The BS1H is Panasonic's full-frame box-style cinema camera, which Panasonic says builds LUMIX S1H performance into an easy-to-deploy profile for multicam and drone work. One review (Digital Camera World) lists its all-in-one package, 5.9K capture and use of inexpensive media as reasons to buy, and a slight learning curve, availability only in L-mount and no V-mount battery option as reasons to avoid.

From Panasonic:

> Set inspiration in motion with BS1H, a full-frame box-style cinema camera that builds LUMIX S1H performance into an easy-to-deploy profile ideal for multicam and drone work. Featuring a 24.2 MP sensor, Dual Native ISO, and 14+ stops of dynamic range (V-Log/V-Gamut), BS1H supports 10-bit 6K/24p, 5.4K/30p (3:2), and 5.9K/30p (16:9) and unlimited 10-bit 4K/C4K/60p HEVC recording. Streamline workflow with simultaneous output via 3G-SDI and HDMI® interfaces. Output 12-bit 5.9K/4K/3.5K Anamorphic (4:3) RAW to Apple ProRes RAW on the Atomos Ninja V, or to Blackmagic RAW on the Blackmagic Video Assist 12G HDR. Explore livestreaming at 4K/60p H.265 via PoE+-ready LAN. Scale with third-party monitors, gimbals, and rigs, and use Genlock IN and Timecode IN/OUT to sync multi-angle shots from up to 12 cameras controlled by LUMIX Tether for Multicam software.

Panasonic's consumer product pages block automated reads, so the maker page above is Panasonic's own pro-AV product page; the quote omits Panasonic's two footnote markers (the first for "4K/C4K" and the second for "12 cameras"). The specs come from that page, from [Panasonic USA's DC-BS1H specification page](https://help.na.panasonic.com/answers/features-and-specifications-lumix-s-series-model-dc-bs1h/) and from [Panasonic Japan's DC-BS1H spec table](https://panasonic.jp/dc/products/DC-BS1H/spec.html).

Weight of 585 g is body only: the BS1H ships without a battery and runs on the bundled AC adaptor or an optional battery pack, so Panasonic gives no weight with battery and card. Panasonic's pro-AV page, USA page and Japanese spec table all give 585 g, and [DPReview's specification page](https://www.dpreview.com/products/panasonic/slrs/panasonic_dcbs1h/specifications) and [Digital Camera World's review](https://www.digitalcameraworld.com/reviews/panasonic-lumix-bs1h-review) list the same figure; no Panasonic page reachable for automated reads states the weight of the optional AG-VBR59. The battery is that AG-VBR59, one of the packs (with AG-VBR89 and AG-VBR118) listed among the compatible accessories on [Panasonic Japan's product page](https://panasonic.jp/dc/products/DC-BS1H.html) and the pro-AV page; Panasonic Japan's table gives about 280 minutes of 4K/24p recording on it. Panasonic publishes no still-shot battery figure, so battery life is left out. The price of USD 3,499 is the US launch price for the body only, as DPReview's specification page lists it; [Newsshooter's launch report of 8 Oct 2021](https://www.newsshooter.com/2021/10/08/panasonic-goes-full-frame-with-lumix-bs1h-box-camera/) and [ProVideo Coalition's of 7 Oct 2021](https://www.provideocoalition.com/panasonic-lumix-bs1h-a-new-cinema-camera-in-a-compact-body/) give USD 3,499.99, and no Panasonic page reachable for automated reads gives a price. Announced on 7 Oct 2021 with US availability reported for November 2021.

Panasonic's specification table gives 6K video of 5952x3968 at 24p in 3:2 across the full sensor width, so open gate is 6K. It lists Full HD with a sensor rate of up to 180 fps (cropped above 150 fps), hence FHD 180p; ProVideo Coalition's launch report gives the same 180 fps Full HD figure. The lowest standard ISO is 100 (Dual Native ISO with base sensitivities 100 and 640). The BS1H has no viewfinder (Panasonic Japan's table lists none) and gives its still shutter as electronic, 1 to 1/8,000 s, with stills only via LUMIX Tether; there is no mechanical shutter, as [Asobinet's launch report](https://asobinet.com/info-announce-lumix-dc-bs1h/) also notes. Panasonic Japan lists no burst shooting (連写撮影: なし), so burst rates are left out, as is pre-burst. Panasonic's pages list no in-body stabilisation (only lens-based and Boost I.S. with stabilised lenses, per ProVideo Coalition), and Asobinet's launch report says it has none, so ibis is false. Panasonic Japan marks dust resistance as absent (防塵対応: 無し) and the other Panasonic pages make no sealing claim, so weather sealing is false. Hot shoe is true because the camera has a shoe with electrical contacts, not because it supports flash: Panasonic USA's specification page says 24-bit / 96 kHz LPCM audio can be selected when the optional DMW-XLR1 XLR Microphone Adaptor is attached (the adaptor connects through the shoe's contacts), the pro-AV page lists the DMW-XLR1, DMW-MS2 and VW-LED1 as compatible accessories, and Panasonic Japan's table lists a hot shoe cover among the included accessories. The same table says 外部フラッシュ対応: 無し, so the shoe does not support an external flash. Panasonic lists only memory cards as recording media, so internal storage is 0; both slots take SD cards up to UHS-II. Panasonic names the DC-BS1H among the cameras supported by its [LUMIX Webcam Software](https://av.jpn.support.panasonic.com/support/global/cs/soft/download/lumix_webcam.html). No SKU is published on a page reachable for automated reads, so the SKU is left out.

Current: Panasonic's pro-AV site still lists the BS1H as a current product, its Japanese product page carries no production-ended marking (it labels the camera as made to order), and no discontinuation report was found as of 2026-11-04, so there is no discontinuation year.

Reviews and videos were a full pass for a niche cinema camera. DPReview published no full review (only a hands-on and a DPReview TV video, both on 7 Oct 2021), so DPReview is not listed under Reviews, and the Key Take-Aways draw on the one written review found. Newsshooter, CineD, ProVideo Coalition and No Film School published launch news only, which is not used. The video by Ed Prosser notes that Panasonic provided the camera without payment or editorial input. Product image: Panasonic press render from DPReview's product page.
