Key Take-Aways:

This is Leica's 2026 full-frame mirrorless camera, which Leica positions as a body offering everything needed for clear, confident image composition, from form to performance. Several reviews praise the image quality and the improved autofocus, and three (TechRadar, Macfilos, Techgoondu) the premium build; two reviews (TechRadar, Techgoondu) say the autofocus still trails the fastest Sony and Canon bodies, three reviews (TechRadar, Digital Camera World, Techgoondu) fault the rear screen for tilting only and find the price demanding, and one review (Digital Camera World) calls the buffer short at 40 fps.

From Leica:

> As the most comprehensive camera in the SL-System to date, the SL3-P offers everything you need for clear, confident image composition. From 44 MP resolution, improved hybrid autofocus, 8K video capabilities, and intuitive operation to the exceptional build quality with IP54 protection. A well-rounded experience, from form to performance. For outstanding results you can feel.

The weight of 852 g is with battery and card, DPReview's figure from its [specifications page](https://www.dpreview.com/products/leica/slrs/leica_sl3p/specifications), confirmed by Macfilos' [SL3-P versus Lumix S1RII comparison](https://www.macfilos.com/2026/08/14/leica-sl3-p-versus-lumix-s1rii-all-that-matters-in-the-real-world/), which also gives 852 g with battery and SD card; Leica itself states only 768 g, without battery, SD card and bayonet cover. The price of $6,690 is the body-only US launch price on DPReview's specifications page, matching [TechRadar's review](https://www.techradar.com/cameras/mirrorless-cameras/leica-sl3-p-review) and [Digital Camera World's review](https://www.digitalcameraworld.com/cameras/mirrorless-cameras/leica-sl3-p-review) (both "$6,690"); DPReview's review text gives $6,695, which no other source repeats. Leica's own [June 2026 press release](https://leica-camera.com/en-int/press/new-leica-sl3-p) names only the euro price of EUR 5,990 and says the camera is available worldwide from 25 June 2026, hence 2026 as the year; Leica's product page lists it, so it is current.

The other specs come from Leica's own pages: the [SL3-P technical specification](https://leica-camera.com/en-US/photography/cameras/sl/sl3-p-black/technical-specification) and the English data sheet give a CMOS sensor of 45.8 MP total and 44.9 MP effective, 5-axis image stabilization, the 5,760,000-dot viewfinder, a mechanical shutter from 30 min to 1/8000 s and an electronic shutter up to 1/16000 s for 12-bit photos, the IP54 all-metal housing, the manual ISO range from 50 (the lowest value is taken as base ISO), the ISO accessory shoe, and the BP-SCL6 battery at 383 shots by the CIPA standard with AF detection off (Leica also gives 1,431 shots with an adjusted shooting cycle, which is not used here). Dimensions are Leica's 141.2 x 108 x 84.6 mm, rounded. The continuous rates are 7 fps with the mechanical shutter and 40 fps with the electronic shutter, both with continuous autofocus. Leica describes the autofocus as hybrid, combining contrast measurement, depth map and phase comparison (819 phase-detection points and 315 contrast points), so it is entered as phase detect, as on the SL3. The sheet lists an "8K OG" video mode of 8064 x 5376 (3:2), the full sensor, so the open-gate mode is 8K. The sheet's highest frame rate above 60 fps is 119.88 fps, available at 4K and at Full HD (the latter also as a slow-motion mode recorded at 29.97 fps), hence 4K 120p. The sheet names a CFexpress type B card and an SD UHS-II card; CFexpress Type B is the faster card, so it is slot 1. The 8 GB is buffer memory, so internal storage is 0. Leica does not publish a pre-capture burst or USB webcam support in the sheet or the press release, so those two are left out. DPReview published a full review of this camera, which is listed first under Reviews; it could not be read, so it is not used for the Key Take-Aways, which draw on the four other reviews. Macfilos's and TechRadar's reviews appeared on launch day on cameras used before release (TechRadar says a loan a few weeks ahead; Macfilos reports nearly nine months of use), and neither is labelled pre-production.
