Key Take-Aways:

The Ronin 4D-8K is DJI's all-in-one cinema camera, covered here with the Zenmuse X9-8K gimbal camera and the L-Mount unit, which DJI presents as "una solución cinematográfica completa y vanguardista" for solo filmmakers.

From DJI:

> Con DJI Ronin 4D, una cámara de cine 8K todo en uno, las tecnologías más avanzadas de DJI se han integrado en una solución cinematográfica completa y vanguardista, que ofrece a los cineastas autónomos una flexibilidad revolucionaria y posibilidades ilimitadas para rodajes coordinados. Una solución de grabación cinematográfica en 8K está ahora a tu alcance.

Sources: DJI's English pages could not be reached for automated reads (dji.com redirects to its Spanish mobile site), so the quote above is the Spanish description of DJI's Ronin 4D product page, which describes the Ronin 4D system as a whole and names the 8K model (in English: an all-in-one 8K cinema camera that brings DJI's most advanced technologies into a complete, cutting-edge cinematic solution for solo filmmakers), and the specifications come from [DJI's Spanish specification page](https://www.dji.com/es/mobile/ronin-4d/specs) and [FAQ](https://www.dji.com/es/mobile/ronin-4d/faq), translated here. DJI's user manual was not read (the PDF is over 20 MB).

This entry covers the Ronin 4D with the Zenmuse X9-8K gimbal camera and the Zenmuse X9 L-Mount unit. The camera's base mount is DJI's DX mount; the L-Mount unit is an interchangeable mount unit DJI sells for it (DJI's table lists the DL mount as included and L, M, E and PL mount units as compatible, the E and PL ones from third parties). The 2023 year is the 8K version's ship year: the camera was announced on 20 Oct 2021 (the date of the launch reports of [CineD](https://www.cined.com/dji-ronin-4d-review-this-is-the-ultimate-stabilized-camera/) and [Newsshooter](https://www.newsshooter.com/2021/10/20/dji-ronin-4d-a-fully-integrated-camera-gimbal-solution/)) but the 8K version was not on sale then, and [Newsshooter](https://www.newsshooter.com/2023/12/14/dji-ronin-4d-8k/) and [CineD](https://www.cined.com/dji-ronin-4d-8k-released-up-to-8k-60fps-full-frame-prores-raw-with-zenmuse-x9-8k/) report it as shipping on 14 Dec 2023. The L-Mount unit followed on 15 Jun 2022, when [Leica announced that DJI had joined the L-Mount Alliance](https://leica-camera.com/en-int/press/dji-joins-l-mount-alliance) and introduced the Zenmuse X9 L-Mount Unit with it.

DJI's table gives the main body as 235 x 115 x 160 mm, labelled length x width x height, entered here as depth 235, width 115 and height 160. The weight of 1450 g is DJI's main-body figure ("approx. 1.45 kg") and is body only: it excludes the gimbal (1.04 kg), the lens, the TB50 battery and the memory card, so DJI gives no weight with battery and card for the camera alone (the full set is 4.67 kg without lens and card). The price of USD 12,838 is the retail price of the Ronin 4D-8K Combo at shipping on 14 Dec 2023, not of the body alone, as reported by [CineD](https://www.cined.com/dji-ronin-4d-8k-released-up-to-8k-60fps-full-frame-prores-raw-with-zenmuse-x9-8k/) and [Newsshooter](https://www.newsshooter.com/2023/12/14/dji-ronin-4d-8k/) on 14 Dec 2023. The combo includes the Ronin 4D main body, the Zenmuse X9-8K gimbal camera, the DJI DL PZ 17-28 mm T3.0 ASPH lens, a 1 TB PROSSD with its mount, hand grips and a top handle, the high-bright main monitor, the TB50 battery, the LiDAR range finder, a Ronin 4D RAW licence key and accessories and cables (Newsshooter adds that B&H listed it at USD 11,499 that day). The USD 11,499 figure is the Ronin 4D-8K Combo price announced in October 2021, which never shipped as such: [Newsshooter's launch report of 20 Oct 2021](https://www.newsshooter.com/2021/10/20/dji-ronin-4d-a-fully-integrated-camera-gimbal-solution/) lists that combo as the Zenmuse X9-8K gimbal camera, a 1 TB PROSSD with its mount, the main monitor, hand grips, top handle, TB50 battery, battery mount and carrying case (no lens, no LiDAR range finder), [CineD's review of 20 Oct 2021](https://www.cined.com/dji-ronin-4d-review-this-is-the-ultimate-stabilized-camera/) gives the same USD 11,499 and says the 8K version would follow later, and so does [TechRadar's hands-on](https://www.techradar.com/news/i-spent-a-day-with-the-dji-ronin-4d-and-it-took-my-filmmaking-to-the-next-level).

Megapixels is 44.7: DJI's FAQ gives 44.7 MP effective pixels for the X9-8K (24.1 MP for the X9-6K); Newsshooter's launch report gave 35.4 MP for the 8K, which DJI's FAQ replaces. The sensor is a full-frame 35 mm CMOS with 14+ stops of dynamic range. DJI gives the X9-8K an exposure index of EI 200 to EI 6400 with dual native ISO 320/1600 (12-bit) when Dynamic Range Expansion is off and 800/4000 (14-bit) when it is on, so base ISO is 320, the lowest native value; the EI 200 floor is an exposure index, not a native ISO. DJI's Spanish specification line reads "Obturador mecánico electrónico 1/24 s-1/8000 s"; it is read as DJI listing the shutter as electronic (1/24 s to 1/8000 s) with no separate mechanical shutter range, so mechanical_shutter is false, and it publishes no stills burst rate. The camera has built-in 9-stop ND filters. Autofocus is entered as Contrast Detect because no DJI page names phase detection on the sensor; [CineD's launch review](https://www.cined.com/dji-ronin-4d-review-this-is-the-ultimate-stabilized-camera/) says "The sensor doesn't have any phase detection points", but that review tested the X9-6K, and no page read says the same for the X9-8K, so the entry applies it to the X9 camera family on DJI's silence (a source only; the review is not listed under Reviews, see below); DJI's autofocus relies on its LiDAR range finder (ActiveTrack Pro, face and body recognition). The 8K mode records 8192 x 4320 (DJI's FAQ: ProRes RAW 8192×4320 at 60 fps), and DJI's FAQ lists ProRes RAW 8K at up to 75 fps, 5.5K at up to 60 fps and 4K at 120 fps. CineD's release report calls the 4K 120 fps mode "full-sensor" but gives it as 17:9 DCI, and DJI lists no 3:2 or full-sensor-area recording mode for the X9-8K, so open gate is None. The highest frame rate above 60 fps for the resolutions DJI's tables list is C4K at up to 120 fps (DJI's CFexpress table lists C4K and 2K up to 120 fps in ProRes 422 and H.264; the FAQ lists 4K RAW at 120 fps for the X9-8K), entered as C4K 120p; the 8K modes top out at 60 fps (75 fps for 2.39:1 per CineD, 75 fps in DJI's FAQ list). The camera has no built-in viewfinder (the main monitor is attached), and no in-body sensor-shift stabilisation: its stabilisation is the four-axis gimbal around the camera, so ibis is false. DJI's FAQ says the main body is dust resistant but not submersible and tells users to protect it from rain, so weather_sealed is true on that dust claim. Media are DJI PROSSD 1TB (a proprietary SSD, included in the 8K pack per DJI's FAQ), CFexpress 2.0 Type B and USB-C SSD; they are entered as slot 1 CFexpress Type B and slot 2 SSD/USB-C, and there is no internal storage. The battery is DJI's TB50 and DJI gives an operating time of about 150 minutes, no still-shot figure, so battery life is left out. Hot shoe, webcam use and SKU are left out because no DJI page read states them.

Current: dji.com still lists the Ronin 4D and no discontinuation notice was found as of 2026-11-05, so there is no discontinuation year.

Reviews and videos were a full pass because the camera is current. DPReview has no Ronin 4D page, so there is no DPReview bullet. No written review of the Ronin 4D-8K qualifies, so no Reviews bullet is listed and the Key Take-Aways carry no pros and cons: [CineD's "DJI Ronin 4D-8K First Look Review"](https://www.cined.com/dji-ronin-4d-8k-first-look-review-dynamic-range-rivalling-arri-alexa-mini-lf/) (Nino Leitner, 14 Dec 2023) is a first look whose lab test CineD calls preliminary because there was no production firmware for the 8K camera, so it is out; CineD's launch review of 20 Oct 2021 tested the 6K camera (CineD says DJI sent the 6K because the 8K was still in development), so it is not a review of this unit; [TechRadar's hands-on](https://www.techradar.com/news/i-spent-a-day-with-the-dji-ronin-4d-and-it-took-my-filmmaking-to-the-next-level) and ProVideo Coalition's review likewise tested the 6K and are listed on the 6K entry; the 8K pieces of Newsshooter (Matthew Allard, 14 Dec 2023), ProVideo Coalition (Brian Hallett, 14 Dec 2023) and No Film School (Jourdan Aldredge, 15 Dec 2023) are release news, not reviews; searches of the Digital Camera World, RedShark, Fstoppers and TechRadar sites found no 8K review. Five videos qualify. They are in English, over 2,000 views on their watch pages, with no paid-promotion marker on the watch page, and each names the 8K in its title or description (Gerald Undone's description names the Zenmuse X9-8K; Jeffrey Griffith's compares the 6K and 8K sensors); none is from a shop or maker channel. The descriptions state no loan or pre-production unit; Gerald Undone's video has an "Intro & Disclosure" chapter that was not read (no transcript could be fetched), and he published on the 14 Dec 2023 release day and Michael Tobin a week later; MAKE. ART. NOW. is a filmmaker's channel whose description also offers his own Ronin 4D for rent in Los Angeles and carries affiliate links. Philip Bloom's 8K review (DJI hired him), PetaPixel's 8K review and Connor McCaskill's 8K video carry the paid-promotion marker and are out; Sam Ayvazyan's launch-day overview and ATB Productions' first-impressions footage are out as launch and first-look pieces; Lensrentals (gear rental) and CVP (seller) are out. Product image: DJI render via [Newsshooter](https://www.newsshooter.com/2021/10/20/dji-ronin-4d-a-fully-integrated-camera-gimbal-solution/); the render shows the Zenmuse X9 with the 8K badge.
